SWEET IRONY

Alas, O Lord my God, for most of

my life I have striven to know

You, striven to love You, striven to

find You, and striven to follow

those teachings You left behind as

You taught Your Apostles how

to lead and rule Your flock! Alas,

as oft' as not I have sinned,

turned my back and a deaf ear to

my God, then I tried to outrun

the One I carried within!

'Twas a fool's gambit!

Alas, O Lord my God, for all of

my life You have striven to

let me know You, striven to Love

me and teach me to love,

striven to let me find You, and

striven to teach me Your

teachings through Whispers of

the Spirit! Alas, as oft' as

I sinned, turned my back and a

deaf ear to You, tried hard

to outrun and hide from

You, You are there!

You are tireless, O Lord my God,

for in spite of me, You knew

me, Loved me, sought me, then

spoke in Whispers to me! I

turned back, opened my ears, and

found my One True Love!

So be it!
